Recently, one of the dogs I was talking to taught me the difference between
experiencing an altered state and being ungrounded.
Gracie was suffering from anxiety. Her guardian told me that when she was still a small pup with her breeder, she escaped the fenced in yard. Even though she was only outside the yard for a few minutes, she managed to get herself into trouble. Gracie found something that made her very sick. She almost died.
Gracie told me that she sniffed something like rat poison, it burned her throat and almost killed her. While she was telling me her story, Gracie began talking faster and faster. It was hard to keep up with the conversation. I could feel her anxiety building as she told me that at the moment that she ingested the poison, horror went through her body and lodged mostly in her solar plexus. She’s been carrying the energy of that moment ever since. It has manifested itself in her skin in the form of cancer. She has tumors on her skin mostly by her throat. Gratefully, the type of cancer that Gracie has, is treatable and the success rate for remission is high.
As Gracie continued her story, I went from a loving altered state, to being exceptionally ungrounded. I felt like I was floating outside of my body. I could not concentrate on our conversation and I became intensely uncomfortable and even a little nauseous.
In that moment, I understood the difference between what it feels like to be in an altered state and becoming ungrounded, because that’s exactly what was happening to me.
Gracie really wanted to escape her feelings, and her fear of death was so profound, that she never wanted to come back into her body again. Because of her near death encounter, she thought that all death experiences would be filled with trauma, horror and pain.
I showed Gracie another experience. I explained that during her last moments, her experience could be peaceful and comforting. She could, for example, be laying in her favorite restful space at home in the living room with her human guardians. She could have her head resting in her lady’s lap. Her man would definitely be there with her too. The angels would come for her, surround her in White and Pink Light and guide her safely to heaven.
One of my students was with me, and we did the Love Meditation for her. We felt Gracie come back to her body. She also allowed us to do a Guided Meditation for her to help her ground even more. As we helped her ground, I saw a White-Light lifesaver float in and go around Gracie’s midsection. (It looked like a life saver that the captain would throw off a tour boat if someone happened to fall overboard). The bottom quarter of the lifesaver went into the ground while the rest of it surrounded Gracie’s body. The lifesaver is there to keep her safely grounded in her body.
I reminded Gracie that when she looks into her humans’ eyes she can see their souls. By staying present to whatever is unfolding in the moment, she can experience their love and protection. Staying grounded in her body will help Gracie feel more confident and untroubled.
At the end of our session, I felt totally grounded. Gracie was much more grounded too. In my mind’s eye, I saw the tumors around her neck and they looked green. Green is the color of the Heart Chakra and to me, green represents healing.
More about Grounding and the Love Meditation
When communicating with the animals, it is important to breathe deeply from the belly. That’s how the telepathic connection is made. When you concentrate on breathing deeply, you move from left brain, or linear thinking to right brain thinking which is creative and imaginative. You are concentrating your energy on love and joy. Most likely, you will feel the altered state because you are breathing deeper than you normally do. You are filling your blood with oxygen, and the blood travels to your brain. From here, you are able to shift from left brain, thinking to right brain thinking. Since our intention is to focus on the animals and filling the space with love, you should still be in your body.
Ungrounded energy is a vibrational frequency you create specifically to leave your body so you don’t have to feel, sense or see the truth of a situation. It is created from the space of fear. Sometimes, it is a survival mechanism. Living in an ungrounded state can be very uncomfortable; it becomes hard to stay focused on being present to whatever is unfolding right now. For some of us this is our “normal” state of mind, and we may not even be aware of it.
If you feel ungrounded, there are several ways to ground yourself back into your body. This is the meditation that I used with Gracie to help her get grounded:
Imagine that you are pulling your energy down through the crown of your head. Breathing in, bring your attention and the energy from your crown into your third eye. Exhaling, move the energy into your throat. Breathing in, focus on bringing that energy down into your heart. Exhaling, feel the energy move throughout your solar plexus, just above your navel. Breathing in, take that breath down to your sacral area, just below your naval. Exhaling the breath, send the energy through your root at the base of your spine. Imagine the energy flowing down your thighs, your knees, your calves and ankles. Imagine the energy bursting into the earth and planting itself there. Feel the roots go down, down, down into the middle of the earth. Stay there for a few moments and really feel the earth. Go within, feel your body.
Or, clench your butt cheeks together, that’ll ground you every time!
I’ve talked about the Love Meditation. This is the meditation I use to create the space for right brain thinking, it feels like a good time to share it with you now:
Sitting with your feet flat on the floor, begin to breathe consciously. Breath deep down into your Sacral Chakra. (Just below your belly button). Feel your belly rise and fall. Concentrate on your breath. Listen. Really listen to the sounds in the room. Breathe, and listen…
Breathe in love through your left palm. (The left side of the body is the Sacred Feminine side). Bring that love up your left arm, past your left elbow to your left shoulder, and across your chest to your heart. Breathe in love. Love is eternal. Love is ever lasting. Love is infinite. Love is your birthright. Breathe in love. Take extra.
Exhale love across the right side of your chest to your shoulder, down your right arm past your right elbow and out your right palm. Watch that love expand ten-fold.
Breathe in love through your left palm. Bring that love up your left arm, past your left elbow to your left shoulder, and across your chest to your heart. Breathe that love into your heart. Take in extra. As a child of God, you are so worthy of love.
Exhale love across the right side of your chest to your shoulder, down your right arm past your right elbow and out your right palm. Watch that love expand ten-fold.
Breathe in love. Exhale love.
Continue breathing in love, exhaling love. Your energy vibration is rising. You are holding the frequency of love. Here you can talk to the animals, your Guides, and your Angels.
