Helping Benny Let Go of the Fear of Abandonment
Benny’s Profile:
Benny is 3 years old.
He was adopted from the Humane Society by Emma and her husband, Jack and they have been getting to know each other for about six months.
When he was adopted, the only information Emma had about Benny is that his first owner died and he was probably handed off to a family member and then surrendered to the Humane Society.
Benny reacts out of fear and nips people when they try to work with him. He failed his behavior assessment at the local Doggie Day Care because he hid under a table in the corner of the room, would not come out, and nipped at the girl working with him. He seemed o.k. with the other dogs when they approached.
When Emma takes Benny for walks he seems fine with the other dogs, but he is afraid of people.
Here’s How I Work:
The majority of my Animal Communication Sessions are done distantly and this one was no exception. Emma and Benny were at their house in Chicago, Illinois and I was at my home in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Using Benny’s photograph, I imagined his picture in my mind’s eye. I stated, “My intention to speak with Benny,” and when I saw him animated in my minds eye, I knew I had a connection with him.
When I connect with the animals, I “see” pictures in my mind’s eye, I “hear” their voices in my inner ear, and I feel their feelings in my physical body.
Here’s What We Learned:
At first I “saw” Benny moving with quite a bit of animation but as I continued to talk to him, I saw him back away, felt some trepidation, and anxiety showed in his eyes. Not wanting to intrude, I let Benny know that his girl, Emma invited me in to talk to him. I treated him with gentle regard and he relaxed and came forward.
I asked Benny if he would be willing to share his story with Emma and I, letting him know that we had his Highest Good in mind. Benny shared with me that his first home was with a very nice man. The man was gentle and nurturing, he spoke in a soft voice. The man, however was sick much of the time. Benny and his man spent many days and nights resting and sleeping. They had a remarkably close bond and Benny helped the man feel peaceful. Benny was extremely sad when his man died.
After sharing this much of his story, I felt anxiety leave Benny’s body. He began feeling warmth and adoration. I could feel his heart beginning to open. I also saw a blanket of White Light come in and wrap Emma and Benny in its love.
Next, a lady dressed in high heals, (Benny’s a small dog so he noticed her shoes first) a skirt and blazer picked him up and took him to her house. She was very loud and boisterous. Benny said that she was quite different from his man. She frightened him and he never could quite relax while in her presence. In reality, she was frightened and she, too, was grieving the loss of the man.
As I talked to Benny, I got the feeling that the woman could have been the man’s sister. I believe she was someone who had the ties of a family member because the feeling that went along with the image that I saw represented the way I feel when I think of my sister – a deeper, life long connection, a relationship that has been with me my whole life. Benny was afraid of this woman though because she was loud and very animated, and she needed to get things done right away. There was little or no time for cuddling. And Benny missed his man even more.
We paused and settled even deeper into the blanket of White Light that was enveloping Emma and Benny. (Emma told me that at this time Benny came out of the bedroom, walked into the living room, and jumped up on her lap).
As we felt the healing Light flow in, I saw a “Bic” lighter flick on and off. I asked Benny to imagine a white candle in his heart. The candle is lit with the Eternal Flame of God, or Source Energy. This flame will never go out. As we breathed deeply, I asked Benny to imagine a beautiful, unwavering flame. When he is peaceful, this flame is unfaltering. When fear or anxiety come in, the flame begins to flicker. I showed Benny that he can wrap the White Light Blanket around himself at any time and that he can imagine the Eternal Flame in his heart, in this way he can bring himself back to center. This is a practice that I use when I feel fear or anxiety.
We had one more place to go in Benny’s story line. The Humane Society. The lady with the high heals missed the man tremendously. She missed him even more when she looked at Benny. It was with a very heavy heart that she surrendered Benny, and she cried some more when she left him with the good people at the Humane Society. Benny was sure that he did something wrong and that’s why she abandoned him. He couldn’t see how sad she was without the man.
Again we paused to feel the healing White Light. As we looked at the woman, we imagined her grief and we wrapped her in a White Light Blanket. We visualized her surrounded by angels.
I explained to Benny that he is in his forever home and that Emma and her husband, Jack adore him. They want to give him the best and greatest life that they can. Benny and I viewed his experience at the Doggy Day Care from a different perspective, not one of punishment (the way he felt about the Humane Society) but one of sociability, playfulness, respect and love for one another both human and canine.
Benny was very grateful for our time together. He wanted me to tell Emma that this was a very important day in his life. There are a few days in everyone’s life that stand out as life changing, and this was one of them.
Emma plans to take Benny to a class to help him socialize and feel comfortable with humans. If that goes well, she may try the Doggy Day Care again. Meanwhile, she’s going to love the time she shares with Benny and Jack.
